The country’s largest bank said the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) scheme is not to reduce the bank’s cost price. Notably, earlier there was news that the bank has educated a spontaneous retirement plan for its employees, which can cover about 30,190 employees. A bank ambassador said in a statement that the bank’s VRS scheme was not meant to curtail costs.
A statement issued by the bank said, “The bank has always conserved a friendly attitude towards its employees and is expanding its business to meet the needs of the people.” This proves that the bank is planning to hire more than 14,000 workers this year. The State Bank currently has about two and a half lakh employees and the bank has always been at the forefront in meeting the needs of its employees and helping them in their lifetime, the statement said.
What is VRS 2020

Earlier, it was reported that State Bank of India was coming up with a new VRS-2020 for its workers, which would cover about 30,190 workers. According to the news, SBI’s VRS scheme will be open to all such permanent officers and employees who have completed 25 years of service in the bank or have completed 55 years of age by the due date. The scheme will be open from December 1 this year to February 2021. That is, applications for VRS will be accepted during this period.


What will benefit workers
Workers whose VRS application will be accepted will receive a 50 per cent salary as ex gratia for the period of service remaining till the actual retirement date. Apart from this, other advantages like graduation, pension, provident fund and medical benefits will also be available.
